Rosemary had only been in New York a month and in that time alone, forty-two people had gone missing and that was just of the ones the media reported. Who knew how many other anonymous individuals with no family or friends here had also gone missing unnoticed? Individuals like her? The idea was incredibly unsettling and made her believe that maybe she had made the wrong decision to attend Juilliard. Maybe Brown would have been a safer choice after all. The thought had been gnawing at the back of her mind as the number of the attacks grew exponentially, so Rosie decided that some form of intervention was required.
And so she found herself standing in front of Juilliard where she would begin classes next fall. She had brought her violin along, the same one her father had bought her as a going away gift. It was a Stradivarius known as the Marine Cathédrale and Rosemary knew it didn't come cheap, but she was also known for taking exceptional care of cherished items such as this. Her intention had originally been to see if she could try out one of the practice rooms, but even though she would be attending soon, since she wasn't officially a student yet, the receptionist would not allow her into the building.
Although this was a frustrating set back, Rosemary knew the receptionist was merely doing her job and she couldn't be mad at her for it. So, as a Plan B, Rosemary had taken her violin out of her case, tuned it to her liking, and began to play on the steps of Juilliard. She didn't need to actually be in the practice room to confirm what she really felt deep inside. She was in the right place. She was meant to be in New York.
When she began playing the violin, she had began with a piece from Vivaldi, but somehow her music had changed and melded into a tune she had only heard in her dreams, but one she knew by heart. Startled as she was by this odd subconscious change to her song, Rosemary kept playing it, keeping one eye on the individuals passing by. It wasn't quite as busy here as in Times Square, but there were a fair amount of people around. Some of them stopped briefly to watch her, entranced by the music, before continuing toward their destination. None of them struck her as odd, however, until she caught a strange aura.

There were only two left of the original dozen she’d picked out to look into more deeply. Neither her interviews or her subsequent investigations had yielded any kind of concrete results. Any trace of dark energy that she would have been able to trace (if in fact all of these kidnappings were somehow connected to Beryl) was long gone by the time she arrived at the scene. Even the handful of youma she’d encountered at night hadn’t left her with many clues. All their presence had really done for her was confirm her suspicions that Beryl was awake and setting her plans into motion. Ava wasn’t sure there were many cities on the Earth that were more conducive to Beryl’s plans than New York. The most frustrating part was not knowing which kidnappings were orchestrated by humans and which one Beryl and her youma were behind.
Between her long hours interviewing during the day and patrolling as much of the city as she could at night, Ava had been keeping very odd hours and sleeping when she could. With her latest dead end, Arvana thought it might be better to head back to her apartment early and be well rested to continue her investigation later tonight. Along the way however, a familiar tune caught her ear and drew her closer to the steps of Juilliard. Music was not so uncommon to hear around the prestigious school, but the melody that had caught Ava’s ear was one that was very familiar to her. It carried with it a wave of nostalgia and warm memories that brought a soft smile to Arvana’s lips despite the stress weighing so heavily on her. Her eyes warmed as she watched the woman play, feeling her heart call out to her. It was not a feeling Ava had experienced yet, but she knew what it meant. She’d found one of her sisters.
Ava was content to listen to the song until it began to trail off and she gave the talented musician a grateful smile. “That is a very old song. Hearing you play it so beautifully… brings back memories.”[/style]

Bring back memories it did, but not just for Arvana. Prowling along the gates of Juilliard--it remembered this place, it remembered it so well that it hurt--came a monster, one with distinctive violin markings upon its back. The monster heard the familiar song of the violin and came towards it, skittering through shadows until it could perch near enough to the pair to hear, and perhaps... to plot.
The song died away, and the youma gave a shriek of rage. It was inexcusable that its beautiful, nostalgic song had ended. It wanted the sound of the violin back--but failing that, it would take the energy of the two girls it had been watching. The spider-like creature threw itself to the ground, howling its strange, atonal melody the entire way as it stormed towards its targets.

Rosemary's intentions had never been for attention when she had pulled out her violin, but that seemed to be what she received. There had been some odd coincidences since she had moved here from France. First there was that girl, Lune, in the park who seemed to have identical sketches to Rosemary's own drawings. Then there was the disconcerting man from Soho that she couldn't quite shake from her mind. Now a woman stood in front of her who seemed to have recognized this melody that had arisen from Rosemary's subconscious. Rosemary wasn't a superstitious woman, but she also wasn't stupid and knew when to trust her instincts. There was something bigger going on in New York and they had to all be connected somehow.
Before she found a chance to respond to the lady in front of her, a cacophony of horrid violin music, if you could call it such, came from behind Rosie. She whirled around to find the source of the sound, her hands clapping to her ears in an effort to block out the painful sound. She couldn't quite place what this creature was because it was nothing like she had seen before, in her dreams or in reality, but she immediately knew in her gut that this creature wasn't a friend of hers. It definitely harbored some kind of deep hatred towards her and wished her and possibly this other mysterious girl next to Rosie pain. Rosemary backed away from the monster, forgetting that she had been standing on stairs, and missing the step behind her. She tumbled backwards and although it wasn't a long fall, it knocked the breath out of her.

How did you tell someone that they were a reincarnation of a warrior who needed to take up the fight again? Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately considering the situation), that discussion would have to wait. Ava sensed the youma first, but it showed itself soon after that at the top of the grand staircase. An atrocious melody accompanied its arrival and sent people scattering from the streets, terrified of the grotesque creature that had appeared.
The immediate area emptied quickly, leaving Ava alone with the violinist and a choice to make. Normally she went to great lengths to avoid discovery when she transformed, but that would mean abandoning the girl beside her. Her heart called to her, but how sure was she that this girl was one of her sisters? As the musician took a misplaced step backwards and fell to the ground, Ava made up her mind. She was sure enough.
“Pluto Planet Power, Make-Up!”
A moment later, Pluto placed herself between the musician and the youma, gaining as solid footing as she could on the steps with her Garnet Rod up to block its assault. She wasn’t going to let the creature harm the violinist. “Run!” She called to the girl behind her. Pluto found her once. She would find her again if she needed to. Right now keeping her safe was more important.[/style]

The sudden transformation of the dark-haired woman gave the spider-monster pause for a moment, long enough to give the smaller one time to escape. Instinctively it knew that if it could bring the Queen this one, it would be greatly rewarded... It howled again, exposing long pincers inside the humanoid mouth, and charged forward towards its prey--the tall, dark-haired one with the staff.

As Rosie watched everything unfold in front of her and the other girl's transformation, she realized that the only logical explanation for all this was that she hit her head when she feel. There was no pain but wasn't it possible that if she was hallucinating all this then she was also in shock? It seemed perfectly logical to her, but she also knew that whatever creature this was in front of them, it was real and looked pretty dangerous. Upon being ordered to flee the scene, Rosemary frowned and had to think about it. If she was hallucinating that weird transformation, then she couldn't very well leave this girl alone defenseless. And if she wasn't hallucinating it all and this girl actually had transformed, who was to say that she would be able to fight the thing? For all Rosie knew, this girl's best defense was looking absolutely fabulous in a school girl's outfit.
Getting to her feet, Rosemary shook her head, then realized the other girl couldn't see her. "I'm not leaving you here alone!" she shouted defensively, not really sure what she was going to do to the weird creature, but certain that she couldn't leave this other girl alone.

The connection between them. The bond that was once there. Was that what made her stay? The answers to those questions and many others would have to wait, however. Pluto had the youma’s full attention now.
Raising her Garnet Rod to the sky, Pluto gathered power for a moment and let the creature get just a bit closer. “Dead Scream.” She whispered before sending the glowing violet sphere of energy at the creature who at that point was close enough to make dodging difficult. It wouldn’t be enough though. She honestly wasn’t sure if she was just getting tired or if the youma were getting stronger, but either way one hit (even a solid one) wouldn’t be enough to defeat it.
Pluto hadn’t wanted to awaken her sisters in the midst of battle, but she was left with little choice at this point and she wouldn’t have long before the youma charged again. Quickly, she descended the stairs separating her from the musician. The woman’s spirit called to her, and Pluto closed her eyes for a moment, and held her staff up as the Garnet Orb began to glow, summoning forth the henshin rod that resonated with the woman’s spirit. A moment later Neptune’s transformation wand dropped into Pluto’s waiting hand.
“I wish I had time to give you a more proper explanation, but for now I just need you to trust me.” She held out the rod to the younger woman. “Take it, and say ‘Neptune Planet Power, Make-Up.’” Pluto’s voice was calm but firm, urging the woman to trust her, but on some level realizing how it must sound to her. But there was no other way to awaken her sister at the moment. If she refused, Pluto was on her own with the youma, and only after it was defeated would she be able to give a less hasty introduction.[/style]
