She was raised by her mother in Caracas, Venezuela for the first ten years of her life, and had plenty of friends. Her life was calm, but in a good way. She had no qualms during that period of her life. However, when she was eleven, her mother met and fell in love with a wealthy American man who was traveling, and he ended up extending his trip in order to stay with them. She grew rather fond of the man, and had no trouble viewing him as her father, since her biological father had left long before she could even remember his face. Their life was improved by his presence, and after a few months, Sofia and her mother left Caracas with him when he returned to the United States. When the couple married, Sofia and her mother moved into his considerably nice home in Manhattan, and Sofia was adopted by her mother’s new husband. She had a hard time adjusting to a completely new setting, especially now that she was attending a private school, and for a while was unable to make any new friends. Throughout middle school, she was picked on by other students, and she would occasionally hear them talking about her behind her back. In the middle of her eighth grade year, she finally snapped when one student refused to stop bothering her, and she tackled him, punching him until a teacher managed to force her away from him. After her parents forced her to explain why she had been suspended for attacking a classmate, Sofia asked if she could attend a public high school rather than continuing to attend private school, feeling as though she would manage to fit in more easily. It took a while, but her mother managed to convince her father that it would be in her best interest to agree to it. Once she began high school, though, Sofia came out of her shell and stopped being the quiet girl who other people shoved around for their amusement. She talked back, voiced her opinion, and had no problem with someone viewing her as a bitch for doing so. She had grown tired of being shunned and picked on by others. She had even worked up the confidence to become a cheerleader. By her sophomore year, she had grown into her looks, and had people in her life that she could actually call friends. Her life had improved, and she had honestly thought things would stay this way. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when her mother was killed in a car accident during her junior year. For a couple of months, Sofia and her father didn’t speak to one another unless it was completely necessary, as neither knew what to say to the other. Her depression over the loss of her mother was taken out on the people around her, mainly people who simply annoyed her. The thing about her mother that she missed most was her singing, and eventually she realized that music seemed to be one of the few things that helped her deal with the situation. She auditioned for her school’s choral program the second semester of her junior year, and learned that she actually thoroughly enjoyed singing. After graduating, Sofia attended college for a few years on a full music scholarship, taking classes in photography, something she had always enjoyed, as well as being a part of a choral ensemble. Photography was her back-up plan, more than anything, though she had every intention of pursuing a career in the music industry. Currently, she is still taking classes at NYU while she tries to get her life together. your name/alias: hannah your age: nineteen country/time zone: central face claim: naya rivera how you found us: uh…internet? |
